While the number of COVID-19 cases in Tirupur has gone past 1,000, an inspector at the Tirupur North Women's Police station has tested positive for COVID-19. Following this, she has been admitted at the Tirupur Headquarters Government Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, the police station has been closed down temporarily and the sub-Inspector and the other female cops who worked with the Inspector have been made to undergo testing.

The police station is being fumigated by the Corporation workers and the complaints from the public are being collected at the police station campus.
It is notable that two days ago, a female paediatrician at the Tirupur Headquarters Government Hospital, her doctor husband and an inspector at the Tirupur Rural Police station tested positive for the dreaded virus and are undergoing treatment.
