Coimbatore: SRMU Trade Union protested in Coimbatore against the privatisation of the Indian Railways.

The protests were led by the Salem Division Secretary Govindhan. Chief Branch Secretary and the SRMU Teadu Union members protested at the Coimbatore Railway Workshop.

The SRMU and AIRF Trade Unions protested at the railway workshop on Goodshed road and placed various demands including revoking cancellation of DA, privatisation of the railway department, selection of loco pilots through private agencies, and opportunity for 50% employees to be from private agencies.

The protestors wore face masks and maintained social distancing. Speaking at the protests, the administrators said, "The protests will continue until the Central Government decides to give up on privatisation."

The SRMU Trade unions have been regularly protesting all over the country against the privatisation of the railway department.
