Tirupur: Vetri Amaippu from Tirupur has been on works to revive the Andipalayam Pond since 2005. This year due to restoration work in the canal, PWD refused to let water into the pond and for the last six months the pond was just half full and was also contaminated with sewage from the Mangalam village.

Under the circumstances, TR Sivaram, President of the Vetri Amaippu approached the District Collector K. Vijayakarthikeyan as a last resort and sought water for the pond. The District Collector immediately made arrangements by getting in touch with the PWD. They swiftly acted and made arrangements for the water to reach the pond.
Contract workers toiled well into the night to complete the work and the water was released later.
Vetri Amaippu President TR Sivaram said, "The revival of the pond is close to our hearts. Within two weeks after the pond is filled, the water table will rise up to 5 km around the pond."
He lauded the efforts of the District Collector for his quick action.
