Coimbatore: Forest officers are treating a dehydrated elephant in the Boluvampatti forest. Foresters patrol the Boluvampatti forest in Coimbatore district on a daily basis. While patrolling in the area today, they found a female elephant lying unconscious on the ground at Vellapathy in the Boluvampatti Reserve.

This information was immediately relayed to the forest department. Forest department veternarian Dr. Prabhu rushed to the spot and started treating the elephant. The elephant is said to be 10 to 12 years old.

Aware of this, the District Forest Officer and the ACF went in person and conducted an inspection. According to forest officials, the wild elephant was very weak and was dehydrated causing it to faint and collapse. They provided glucose supplements loaded with antibiotics, minerals, and vitamins. The elephant is also actively monitored by forest staff. Forest officials said the elephant is making good progress.
