Monsoon rains in Valparai: Sub-Collector instructed all departmental officers to be ready
Coimbatore: Following heavy monsoon rains in Valparai, the Sub-Collector has instructed officials from all departments to be on the ready for relief work.

Valparai in Coimbatore district has been receiving heavy rains for the past one week. This has led to landslides in various places and flooding of houses. Following this, a disaster management meeting was held. The meeting was chaired by Pollachi Sub-Collector Vaithiyanathan.
At the meeting, the Sub-Collector said "Those who hesitate to evacuate should be removed if they are at risk of landslides and reside upstairs. It is necessary to save the lives of the people so the authorities must act quickly. Trees that fall on the roads should be removed immediately. Take action to make the power connection available without interruption. Be sure to clean the drinking water. All departments should be prepared to carry out disaster management tasks together."
A 24-hour flood warning center has been set up. Public are asked to contact the following telephone numbers regarding the damage in Valparai areas - Municipality 04253-222324, Revenue Department 04253-222305, and Police 9498101201. Placards with these numbers have been put up all over Valparai.
