Coimbatore: The Coimbatore District Committee Meeting of the Marxist Communist Party was held at the District Office on August 7 with the requisite COVID norms in place. The following resolutions were passed at this meeting.

They demanded to abandon the new education policy that is not accepted by academicians and which destroys the educational dream of the poor people. The following resolutions were passed.

Resolution: 1

The Marxist Communist Party has vehemently opposed the draft bill when it came since the central government has announced that it will implement the new education policy 2020. It has urged the withdrawal as the law affects the following

- Expropriation of rights in the states, making education a fully private business;

- A regressive approach to education.

- Imposing the trilingual policy to plunder social justice

- Destroying the educational dream of the children of poor households, by rejecting mother tongue education

The party said the new education policy will be a process of dragging the nation backwards. Therefore, they urged the people of Coimbatore to unite and oppose the new education policy 2020.

Resolution: 2

They urged to withdraw EIA law affecting the environment of the Western Ghats which acts as the natural fortress in the Coimbatore district.

They opined that the draft circular on environmental impact put forward by the Central Government gives capitalist corporations easy access to the country's natural resources.

They said that the promotion of the Indo-foreign collaborative businesses in the name of concession to the industrialists to plunder the underground mineral resources of this vast nation. They said they will protest against the EIA 2020 that supports it.

They said, due to this environmental protection across the country will be severely affected, especially the natural environment of the Western Ghats, which is the source of drinking water to Coimbatoreans.

They said due to this the environment in Coimbatore will be severely affected in the coming days and EIA should be withdrawn at any cost.
