Amaravathi Dam Park to get a facelift at a cost of Rs.3 crores

Amravati Dam near Udumalai has a park, and eco-station for sale of products crafted by tribals, a crocodile farm, a boat house and adjoining forests. The park used to attract tourists with its beautiful artificial fountains, sidewalk plants, traditional trees, greenhouses, beautiful seats and green bridges, but due to the shortage of people in the public sector, the Amaravathi Dam Park has lacked maintenance, thereby losing its charm.



Aware of this, the District Tourism Department along with the Public Works Department and the Rural Development Department officials, inspected the place.

District Tourism officer T. Aravinthakumar said, " Rs. 3 crore has been allocated on behalf of the Public Works Department Nadu to rehabilitate the neglected Amravati Dam Park and make it attractive to tourists."

He further said, "On behalf of the Tamil Nadu State Tourism Department, steps will be taken to improve the Amaravathi Dam Park by obtaining more funds from the Government."

He also informed, "Rs.1.27 crore project has been received from the Forest Department under the Government of Tamil Nadu Special Area Development Project in order to take steps to upgrade the famous Amaravathi crocodile farm."

He added, "The Government of Tamil Nadu in collaboration with various departments is all set to implement various development projects to improve the tourist sites in Tirupur district."

District Assistant Tourism Officers S. Satish Kumar andT. Selvaraj, Amaravati Dam Assistant Divisional Engineer S. Saravanan, Assistant Engineer Babu Sabariswaran, Udumalai Block Development Officers T. Subramanian and K.K. Jeevanandam participated in this inspection.
