Coimbatore: The Tamilnadu government has issued a government order increasing the limit of low tension electricity line upto 150 kW (Kilo Watt).
This news has been welcomed by industrialists across the region.
The Southern India Engineering Manufacturers Association (SIEMA) Vice President, K. V. Karthik said, "Industries will have two loads in the electricity line such as connected load and demand load. Previously, the LT line limit was 112 kW (KiloWatt upto 150 HP (Horse Power). Even if the instantaneous load crosses 150 kW for a few minutes, the industrialists were asked to convert to HT (High Tension) line. Maintaining HT line inside industry premises is more expensive since it requires a separate yard for the transformer to be established in the premises. Only big industries can afford it."
He added, "Hence MSME industrialists were continuously making requests to the government and now the state government has extended the LT line connection limit upto 150 kW. This initiative has given a big relief to the industrialists, especially the medium sector industries, which will be more benefited."
Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) past president D. Nandha Kumar said, "This is a longstanding request and we wholeheartedly welcome the Tamilnadu government's initiative, especially at the time when industrialists are feeling the impact of 'COVID-19'. This will help the industrialists in a big way."
