Coimbatore: A 30-year-old woman who was rescued with burns from a locked house succumbed to her injuries. Suspicion regarding the death, as the woman had been married for only four years, has led to an RDO enquiry.

Prabhu Daniel (34), a resident of the Ramalinga Nagar in Sundarapuram works at a private company. He has been married to Jhansi (30) for the past four years. They have a two and half-year-old girl child.

When the neighbours spotted smoke coming out of Jhansi's house yesterday afternoon, they broke open the closed doors. They witnessed Jhansi struggling for life and rescued her and sent her to the GH. However, the doctors declared that she was brought dead. A case has been registered by the Podanur police and investigations are on.

Meanwhile, it is alleged that Jhansi's mother-in-law Rosy always got into arguments with the former about the children not being provided proper care. It is further alleged that the household uses LPG and only Rosy could have bought kerosene. Further Jhansi had suffered burns on her face and the front of her body, raising suspicions. It has also been said that Jhansi had contacted her parents in Ooty around 12.15 pm and had asked them to arrange an E-pass for her to travel to Ooty. This has further raised doubts as Jhansi suffered burns at around 12.30 pm.

Since Jhansi and Prachu Daniel have been married for only four years, the Revenue Divisional officer will be undertaking an enquiry.
