Coimbatore: The Aliyar dam is expected to reach its maximum water level in the next few days due to the heavy rains.

Coimbatore: The Aliyar dam is expected to reach its maximum water level in the next few days due to the heavy rains. With heavy rains lashing down in the Aliyar area next to Pollachi, the water level in the Aliyar dam has increased causing floods in the Monkey Falls.

It has been raining heavily for the past few days in the Valparai and Topslip areas around the Western Ghats under the Anamalai Tiger Reserve next to Pollachi.

This has caused severe flooding in the Solaiyar Dam, Shakti Estate, and Thalanaar areas increasing water to monkey falls. Foresters and public servants are camping and monitoring the water level. Authorities said the dam could fill up in two more days as the water level in the dam rises from the water gushing through the streams.
