Coimbatore: Coimbatore recorded an average of 101.5 mm of rainfall in a single day. The southwest monsoon has been intensifying across the Coimbatore district for the past few days.

Due to continuous rain, roads in various parts of the district including Mettupalayam, Kavundampalayam, Periyanaickenpalayam, Narasimhanaickenpalayam, Podanur, Ukkadam and Gandhipuram were flooded.

Continuous rains in the catchment areas of Siruvani have flooded the Noyyal River in Coimbatore. Residents living near the banks have been warned of flood danger for the fourth day in a row.

Also, the onion plants planted on several acres of land in the surrounding villages in the Thondamuthur area were completely submerged. Farmers are worried that the banana trees have been completely damaged due to the wind blowing at an astounding speed with the rains.
