The Nilgiris: Heavy rains caused a 300-foot landslide in Emerald, Nilgiris
The Nilgiris District Administration had announced 283 areas in the Nilgiris District as 'possible landslide' areas. Heavy rains in certain areas such as Avalanche, Gudalur, Manjoor and Keel Kundah has led the District Administration to order people to not step out of their homes.

As a result of incessant rains, a slow landslide occurred in the Emerald area. The land developed fissures for nearly 200 to 300 feet and was washed away. Following this, more than 15 families that reside in this area were accommodated at camps.
The authorities will conduct a survey of the place once the rains stop.
