Coimbatore: Mettupalayam wholesale vegetable mandis have been sealed for four days as 13 people including shop owners and workers tested positive for COVID-19. Following this, the District Administration sealed the market for four days.
The President of the market that functions on Annur Road tested positive for COVID-19 three days ago. Following this, all the employees who work at the market were tested out of which 13 have turned positive for the dreaded virus. Further, 14 members of the public were also found positive. This took the total number of cases that tested positive today to 27.
Therefore, the District Administration ordered shut the two auction centers - the vegetable market and the potato market.
The vegetable market campus was closed and sealed in the presence of the Revenue department officials who were led by the Coimbatore North Divisional Officer Suresh.

Prior to that the vegetable market was sprayed with disinfectants and santitised by the Jadayampalayam Panchayat Administration.
