Coimbatore: The Corporation Commissioner undertook surprise inspection at the temporary vegetable market functioning at the Ukkadam bus stand. He inspected the sanitation measures being undertaken and provided them with face masks and advised them to maintain social distancing. He further inspected the removal of stagnant rain water undertaken in various areas.

The spread of COVID-19 has increased all over the country and the Coimbatore Corporation is involved in undertaking various preventive measures to control it.

In addition to this, the Corporation Commissioner undertook a surprise inspection at the temporary vegetable market that is being operated at the Ukkadam Bus stand.He observed the spraying of disinfectants and noted if all the vegetable shops at the temporary market are set up with sufficient social distancing. He provided the public with face masks and advised them to maintain social distancing.
He also inspected the removal of stagnant rain water with the help of motors in the area. He inspected the vehicles collecting bio degradable and non- biodegradable wastes. He questioned the workers involved in the collection of the wastes and took a note of the streets that collect the wastes and verified if the collection is done properly. He further verified the fuel register to check if the kilometer readings are noted correctly.
The Commissioner met with vegetable vendors and insisted on the importance of maintaining social distancing. He also advised them to insist the public who visit the shops to maintain social distancing.

Following this, he visited Podanur road, Sai nagar and Arafa Street and inspected removal of stagnant rain water.
The Central Zone Deputy Commissioner Mahesh Kanagaraj, Zonal Health Officer Radhakrishnan and Corporation workers were present for the inspection.
