Coimbatore: The CB-CID who have taken over the investigation into the death of the Srilankan drug kingpin Angoda Lokka were consulted by the RAW to obtain information regarding him.
Coimbatore: The CB-CID who have taken over the investigation into the death of the Srilankan drug kingpin Angoda Lokka were consulted by the RAW to obtain information regarding him.
Srilankan underworld kingpin Angoda Lokka was allegedly murdered by his alleged girlfriend Amani Thanji, in Coimbatore. A female lawyer Sivakami Sundari from Madurai had helped Angoda Lokka obtain his documents in India by hiding his citizenship and her friend Dhyaneshwaran from Tirupur was also party to the crime.
Seven bank accounts of Lawyer Sivakami Sundari, who helped Angoda Lokka, were seen to have transacted money ranging from Rs.50 lakhs to Rs.1 crore.
All the three of them had been arrested under suspicion by the Coimbatore police and the case has now been transferred to the CB-CID, who are currently investigating it. The CB-CID IG Shankar formed seven special teams under DSP Raju who are conducting investigations. The house in which Angoda Lokka and his alleged girlfriend stayed in Kalapatti were raided by CB-CID sleuths led by DSP Raju.
Similarly, investigations were conducted at Tirupur and Madurai by the CB-CID police and all the international contacts and bank transactions of Angoda Lokka are being looked into. Meanwhile, five officials from RAW met IG Shankar and other CB-CID officers and consulted with them. They took back information regarding Angoda Lokka.
Angoda Lokka's autopsy was conducted at the GH and organs such as the stomach, liver, kidneys and small intestine have allegedly been sent to the Forensic Lab in Chennai for DNA testing.
Notably, the INTERPOL issued a red notice against Angoda Lokka as a wanted criminal in 2019.
