Construction of 765 KW electricity towers is undertaken from Virudhunagar to Coimbatore by the Tamilnadu Electricity Corporation. Currently it is undertaken via Kaavuthampalayam, Uthukuli.





Stating that the laying of high power cables in agricultural lands will affect farming in not just these lands but also in the adjacent ones, the farmers protested the project and insisted that power cables be laid on highway roadsides. They staged a petitioning agitation at the Tirupur District Collectorate.
