Coimbatore: The name plaque of the Ukkadam bus stand at the entrance of the Coimbatore Ukkadam bus stand collapsed after a lorry collided.

Coimbatore Ukkadam bus stand is currently the corporation’s vegetable market to enable social distancing to prevent coronavirus infection and it is common for the public and traders to visit here in large numbers.

Yesterday around midnight, a lorry collided into the Bus Stand premises dislodging the name plaque of the bus stand.

Major casualties were avoided due to the lack of crowd during late hours. The Ukkadam police rushed to the spot and worked to remove the large name plate by using a crane and after a while the board was removed.
