Amma Unavagam is run by Valparai Municipality in the new market area of Valparai. The eatery employs more than 10 people and serves more than 500 people a day, both in the morning and in the afternoon.
Under the circumstances, the municipal health supervisor who is responsible for overseeing the Amma Unavagam was admitted to a private hospital in Coimbatore for treatment of an illness. He tested positive for COVID-19 there.
