Coimbatore: Kovai islamia Kootamaippu in a press release said, to date, legal experts and lawyers have been raising various questions, doubts and criticisms about the Supreme Court's verdict in the Babri Masjid case.
They said the dignity of democracy would be maintained if a judgment is based on law. In that sense, the verdict in the Babri Masjid case has been met with controversy and criticism.
They opined the appointment of former Supreme Court Judge Ranjan Gokhale as the Rajya Sabha MP by the Central BJP government after the expiry of his tenure has confirmed the doubts about the verdict. They also pointed out that one of the key points in the ruling was to confirm that "the Babri Masjid, where Islamists have been praying for more than 430 years, has not been demolished or any other places of worship." It also said that the demolition of the Babri Masjid was a crime.
The press release stated, "It comes as a shock and pain to the people of the country that no action has been taken today against the perpetrators pointed out by the Librahan Commission appointed in connection with the mosque demolition case. Everyone, including Muslims, is paying close attention to some of the events currently taking place in the country. The deep sadness that justice is not available to the victims comes especially from the Muslim community. The patience of the Islamic community in the interest of the country is historically significant. Those in power should not consider this as weakness or cowardice.
While we believe that peace and unity should prevail in the country, we also call for firm legal action against the perpetrators of the demolition of the Babri Masjid. They pointed out to the rulers that history will not forgive those who have failed in justice due to the arrogance of power. They said, in a democracy, everyone must be sure that their rights and justice are not unjustly taken away and all fundamental rights, including worship, must be protected and notified; that is the glory of our Constitution."
They said the central government, which has failed to address the basic problems of the people in the current extraordinary situation in the country, is trying to cover it up and divide the people so that people do not think about it. They also added the rule of justice must prevail in the country with every Indian citizen to work for this and added that people need to identify rulers who want to divide people in the name of religion.
They said while the Babri Masjid verdict is not to the liking of any democratic force or judiciary, the federal government's initiative to implement it expeditiously causes further dissatisfaction and concern.
The co-ordinators Haji. Inayathullah, AK Sulthan Ameer and A Sathik Ali in the press release said, "At this juncture the Islamists will not lose faith in the supreme democracy of our country and with the support of the people of all societies who respect harmony and trust in the democratic way to disable the errors of judgment and the powers of unjust rulers. On behalf of the Federation of All Jamaat, Islamic Movements and Political Parties in Coimbatore District, we request you to commit to the field."
