Tirupur: The Federation of Indian School teachers staged a protest in front of the Tirupur District Collectorate demanding the removal of criminal proceedings against school teachers and government employees by the TN government.

Teachers and government employees who took part in the protest by the JACTO-GEO were processed for criminal proceedings against them by the TN government. This has been pending for the past one and a half years. As a result of this more than 6,500 teachers and government employees have not been able to receive benefits pertaining to retirement and promotion. Hence they demanded that the government must revoke the criminal proceedings against them.

Further the COVID-19 lockdown has led to the closure of schools and colleges for the past four months. Considering the welfare of the students, schools must be permitted to reopen on a rotational basis, the protestors demanced.

Action taken against the Tamilnadu Higher Secondary School Teachers Association State President Ravichandran and Tamilnadu Graduate Teachers Federation General Secretary Patrick were also demanded to be revoked.
