CB-CID conduct search and investigate the house where Srilankan drug kingpin Angoda Lokka resided in Coimbatore

Coimbatore: The CB-CID who haven taken up the investigation of the death of Srilankan underworld kingpin Angoda Lokka conducted a search at the house where he resided, in Coimbatore.

Coimbatore: The CB-CID who haven taken up the investigation of the death of Srilankan underworld kingpin Angoda Lokka conducted a search at the house where he resided, in Coimbatore.



The Srilankan media released news that the underworld kingpin Angoda Lokka was killed by his girlfriend by poisoning him. On July 3, Pradeep Singh residing at the Green Garden area in Cheran Maanagar passed away due to a heart attack at the Coimbatore GH. An autopsy of his remains confirmed the death as a suspicious death and a case was filed at the Peelamedu police station. Following this, two women, Sivagami Sundari and Amani Thanji, claiming to be his relatives took the body and cremated it in Madurai.



Meanwhile the Peelamedu police, who conducted an investigation found that the Aadhar card submitted under the name of Pradeep Singh was fake. Following this they arrested the two women who resided with the deceased person, Sivagami Sundari of Madurai and Amani Thanji of Colombo.



Investigations conducted with the women revealed that the deceased person was involved in various murders and drug smuggling cases and was the Srilankan underworld kingpin Madhuma Sandhana Vasantha Perera (a) Angoda Lokka. It was also revealed that Sivakami Sundari and her friend Dhyaneshwaran of Erode had helped Angoda Lokka to procure a fake Aadhar card by hiding the information of his citizenship.



The police then filed a new case regarding this and arrested Dhyaneshwaran from the Indra Nagar area in Erode. Foreign currencies, laptops, mobile phones and SIM cards were retrieved from him. Following this, all the three persons were remanded to judicial custody until July 17.

Amani Thanji, who was two months pregnant suffered an abortion and is currently under treatment at the prisoners ward in Coimbatore GH.

Seven special teams have been formed under DSP Raju who are investigating regarding the death and the cremation of Angoda Lokka.

The CB-CID police conducted a thorough search of the house where Angoda Lokka resided since last February, in Cheran Maanagar. This team of 10 policemen were led by DSP Raju.

The team also conducted an enquiry with the neighbouring houses, shops and restaurants. They are investigating in various angles to find answers to a lot of questions such as: Who was Amani Thanji? What was her relation to Angoda Lokka? How did they get in contact with Sivagami Sundari from Madurai? Were they involved in an drug dealing or other illegal activities in Coimbatore?
