Heavy rains accompanied with winds lashed the city on Monday, several trees were reported to have uprooted within the Corporation limits. In view of rainfall prediction for the upcoming two weeks, the Corporation has geared up work to prune trees to avoid power outages and road blocks.

A corporation official said that a survey of weak/damaged trees has begun. "We have advised the workers to prune down branches and axe trees which are totally damaged and cannot withstand the speed of the wind", he added.

Meanwhile, residents have requested the Corporation to clear the debris of such axed trees and branches with immediate effect, as these chopped branches obstruct movement on the roads.
