Coimbatore: IG Shankar of CB-CID has informed that seven special teams have been formed to investigate the death of Angoda Lokka, an underworld kingpin from Srilanka who reportedly died on July 3 in Coimbatore.
Following the transfer of case from Coimbatore City Police to CB-CID, the CB-CID IG Shankar took over the case and commenced investigations, starting from today.
Briefing the press on the case, IG Shankar said that seven teams under the supervision of DSP Raju have been formed to probe the death of Srilankan underworld don Angoda Lokka who allegedly passed away in Coimbatore on July 3 and cremated in Madurai.
He added that two cases have been filed on the issue, regarding the death of Angoda Lokka and duping of documents like Aadhar card, by his accomplice who have been arrested.
To ascertain facts regarding his death, his accomplices -- Sivagami Sundari, Ammani Thanji and Dhyaneshwaran will have to be taken under custody and investigated, he added.
He also informed that there are doubts regarding the identity of the dead person. Hence, a thorough probe must be conducted to confirm that the dead person is Angoda Lokka.
"As investigations have commenced only today, it would take another 2-3 days to furnish more details of the case. Further course of action will depend on the outcome of the investigations”, he told.
Earlier, an advisory meeting with DSP Madasamy and other officials was held this morning at CB-CID office in Uppilipalayam area here.
