Srilankan gangster death in Coimbatore: DGP JK Tripathy orders to transfer case to CB-CID

Coimbatore: DGP JK Tripathy on Monday ordered to transfer the death of Sri Lankan underworld don Angoda Lokka's case to Crime-Branch CID (CBCID) from Coimbatore city police.

Shankar, Inspector General of Police and CBCID and officials received the case details from Coimbatore city police. CBCID, Coimbatore city will register an FIR over the death of Angoda Lokka, tonight, according to reports.

The Coimbatore City Police on Sunday arrested three people for were allegedly involved in forging identity documentation for the Srilankan gangster, Maddumage Lasantha Chandana Perera alias Angoda Lokka who was hiding in Coimbatore for over 2 years under the name Pradeep Singh.

Amani Thanji, Sivakami Sundari and Dyaneswaran. Amani Thanji, a Sri Lankan national was living with Lokka are the three arrested by the police for duping documents of gangster Lokka. They were booked under sections 120B, 177,182, 202, 212, 417, 419, 466, 468 and 471 of the IPC.

Upon confirming of the gangster's death in Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu, the Sri Lankan police got in touch with the Tamil Nadu police and the case was re-opened. The gangster was cremated by the trio in Madurai on July 3 after he was admitted at CMCH here and succumbed to illness.

Following his death, the Peelamedu police had then filed a case under Section 174 of the CrPC (procedure followed in cases of suicide and unnatural/suspicious death).
