Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu continues to register single-day jumps of less than 6,000 new cases with 5,577 positives today. On the other hand, the state witnessed a single-day toll of 86. The State also posted a whopping 5,800 recoveries.

The total cases reported in the state are 2,63,222 now while the toll has gone up to 4,241.
According to the State Health Bulletin, the number of active cases stands at 56,698. The gender-wise break-up of cases stands at 1,59,435 males, 1,03,760 females and 27 transgenders.
Per-day sample testing in the state continues to be high with 58,211 people undergoing PCR tests on Monday, taking the total number of people tested for the virus to 27,33,295 so far.
The numbers in Coimbatore continue to stay high. The district registered 227 fresh cases today. The Nilgiris registered 37 positives and Tirupur posted 45.
Chennai registered 1,021 fresh cases and its neighbours Chengalpattu, Thiruvallur and Kancheepuram registered 331, 332 and 322 cases, respectively.
Elsewhere in the district, 20 cases were reported in Ariyalur, 167 in Cuddalore, 4 in Dharmapuri, 75 in Dindigul, 13 in Erode, 66 in Kallakurichi, 215 in Kanyakumari, 19 in Karur, 67 in Krishnagiri, 106 in Madurai, 32 in Nagapattinam, 43 in Namakkal, 19 in Perambalur, 86 in Pudukkottai, 62 in Ramanathapuram, 382 in Ranipet, 66 in Salem, 64 in Sivagangai, 75 in Tenkasi, 146 in Thanjavur, 305 in Theni, 44 in Thirupathur, 212 in Thiruvannamalai, 18 in Thiruvarur, 215 in Thoothukudi, 85 in Tirunelveli, 101 in Trichy, 134 in Vellore, 90 in Villupuram, and 348 in Virudhunagar.
