Coimbatore: Members of a Women's SHG in Coimbatore petitioned the District Collector demanding action againsts who employees of microfinance companies that threaten them for payment of loan dues.
Women from a self-help group along with the members of the All India Democratic Women's Association complained to the District Collector that men from microfinance companies visit their homes, tarry there for a long time and threaten them for payment of dues.
Jyothimani, a member of the Ramanathapuram Panimalar Women's Self Help Group, said that microfinance workers would come in and sit inside her house and threaten the family with obscene language and would leave only if they get paid.
She said with the lockdown in place effect, many are not able to work and most of them are shopkeepers, mill workers and drivers. She said they are willing to pay the dues with interest, but they need time till the pandemic subsides.
