Coimbatore:Cases have been registered against three people including a Friends of the Police coordinator for land fraud.
The three men allegedly received the money for sites but did not register them in the names of the people who paid for it, but instead sold it to other parties.
A few years ago Dhanalakshmi of the Masakalipalayam area who saw an offer for a plot of housing land for Rs.1,35,000 in Annur, advertised by Selvanayagi Real Estate Promoters, visited their office in Gandhipuram and enquired regarding the offer. She then paid the money for a plot of land.
The real estate promoters further lured Dhanalakshmi with another offer. They offered her four sites for Rs.3 lakhs. Dhanalakshmi went on to pay the three lakh rupees in a few installments. The real estate promoters, however, did not get the housing plots registered in Dhanalakshmi's name.
When Dhanalakshmi went to the office to question them regarding this, she was shocked to learn that the office space had been vacated. When she visited Annur to check the sites, she was in for another shock. The housing sites had been sold to another person. The promoters further did not return the money they owed Dhanalakshmi.
Dhanalakshmi filed a complaint at the Kattoor police station. The police have registered cases on the owners of the real estate agency including Friend of Police Coordinator Senthilkumar and his partners Eshwaran and Krishnakumar. Investigations are on.
