TN Governor rushed to hospital with COVID-19 symptoms: sources

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Governor, Banwarilal Purohit (80) has been tested positive for Covid-19, on Sunday, reports say.



Chennai: Tamil Nadu Governor, Banwarilal Purohit (80) has been rushed to the hospital with symptoms of Covid-19, on Sunday, sources said.

While 84 staff members including security staff working at the Tamil Nadu Governor’s official residence, the Raj Bhavan, in Chennai, were tested positive for Covid-19, last week it was informed that Governor Banwarilal Purohit and other senior staff working along with him were safe.

Of the 147 tests held amid those working in Raj Bhavan, 84 turned positive. Following which, the Raj Bhavan was completely disinfected and many were asked to quarantine.

Meanwhile, TN Governor was rushed today to the hospital with symptoms of illness and had been admitted to a hospital in Chennai.

Official confirmation from Raj Bhavan has not been released. 

Update at 5:45pm: Kaveri Hospital has now officially confirmed that the governor has indeed been tested positive for COVID-19.
