In a press release he said, "since the Tamil Nadu government has issued an order to extend the lockdown till August 31, the ganesh chathurthi will be celebrated in a simple manner. It is a festival celebrated in the homes of all Hindus. They said it is believed that if Ganesha Chathrthi is not celebrated evil things would happen. Moreover, the blessings of Ganesha are required to eliminate COVID-19."
He added that the Visarjan festival would be done in a simple manner with all government guidelines in place. He said people who are panicked due to coronavirus are depressed and there have been many suicides due to this and man can turn only to God in search of solutions.
He said the Tamil Nadu government should make the necessary arrangements for the celebration of Ganesha Chaturthi festival. Hindu Munnani has called the people to worship Lord Ganesha using turmeric and offer heartfelt prayers for a solution during these testing times.
