Coimbatore’s renowned Senior Neurologist Dr. Pranesh passes away due to COVID-19

Coimbatore's renowned Senior Neurologist from Coimbatore Dr. M.B. Pranesh passed away, on Friday night due to breathing related ailments.



Coimbatore: Coimbatore's renowned Senior Neurologist from Coimbatore Dr. M.B. Pranesh passed away, on Friday night due to breathing related ailments.

According to reports, he has been ill for the past few months and passed away due to breathing related issues on Friday night at PSG Hospitals. He was 82-years old and is survived by his wife, son and daughter. 

He was tested positive for COVID-19 which attributed of worsening of his existing co-morbidities leading to his death.

Dr. Pranesh was sought after by patients from all over Tamil Nadu for his skill and empathy for patients. He was one of the earliest stalwarts of Coimbatore in the Healthcare area.

Dr MB Pranesh, headed the Department of Neurology of PSG Hospitals, since it's inception in 1996. One of the senior most consultant, Dr. Pranesh is an Emeritus Professor of Neurology and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London. Presently, the department of Neurology at PSG is headed by Dr.Balachandran.

Due to age-related issues, he quit full-time practicing and has been consulting patients at his Ram Nagar Clinic and visiting patients at PSG hospitals.

In 2016, Dr Pranesh along with six other neurologists in the city launched the Tamil Nadu chapter of Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorder Society to offer supportive medical care and free counselling to patients suffering from the disorder.
