Coimbatore: All India Democratic Women's Association condemns AIADMK government for encouraging derogatory posts by BJP against female journalists.

The number of instances where posting in public on social networking sites about women in a derogatory and obscene manner has started increasing day by day in Tamil Nadu.

Kishore K Swamy's continued posting on social networking sites in a threatening and abusive manner has caused great dissatisfaction among women, especially about women who are effective in the field of journalism. So far, five female journalists have lodged complaints with the Chennai Cyber Crime Prevention Unit. Three FIRs have been registered against him on the basis of complaints lodged by female journalists so far.

In 2019, Kishore K Sami was arrested on a complaint lodged by a female journalist and sent out by the police on conditional bail within an hour. On July 29, 2020, the Chennai Cyber Crime Police registered a case based on a complaint by a female journalist under sections 109, 357 (d) of the Indian Penal Code and 4 of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act.

They accused BJP leader H Raja of having compelled several ministers in Tamil Nadu to release Kishore K Swamy. Police released Kishore K Swamy within three hours of his arrest at the behest of ministers. They accused that violence against women and children is on the rise in Tamil Nadu during this lockdown. They questioned what is the purpose for all these efforts when the Tamil Nadu ministers remain silent when women and children are murdered and sexually abused.

All India Democratic Women's Association strongly condemned the act of Tamil Nadu ministers responsible for protecting the perpetrator of violence against women. They questioned the intent of the Cyber Crime Prevention Unit to release the offender who is being prosecuted in a non-bailable crime category and also asked why is it necessary for the Tamil Nadu government and the police to apologize to a person who has been committing such violence against women for many years. They opined that violence against women in Tamil Nadu will not decrease if police behvave in such a manner.

They also pointed out that it is because of this attitude of the police that some RSS and BJP supporters slander women on a daily basis in the media and on social media. They added that they will never allow the welfare of Tamil Nadu women to be sacrificed to protect the interests of the RSS and the BJP. Therefore, the All India Democratic Women's Association urged the Tamil Nadu Police to immediately arrest Kishore K Swamy and take action to bring the culprit to justice.
