The Nilgiris: Indian gaurs roaming freely in the Ramchand Square, Kotagiri caused fear amid public and traders in the area.

It is common for Indian gaurs, bisons and other wildlife to wander into the city from the Longwood Forest area in Kotagiri.



In one such incident, a herd of Indian gaurs from the forests entered into the Ramchand Square in Kotagiri and locked horns with each other in the middle of the road.

The traders and public in the area who witnessed this were frightened. Later, the animals returned to the forests. Tense moments in the area for some time.
