Nachimuthu Gounder, a resident of Karadivavi village in Palladam taluka of Tirupur district, owns 4.75 cents of land in the area. In this case, his sister Karuppathal filed a case in the court claiming ownership of his land and the court verdict came in favor of Nachimuthu Gounder.
Another petition is pending in the Supreme Court in this regard. On the 10th, Arumugam and his cousin Jayapal from Palladam trespassed into the land and uprooted a 40-year-old tree and sold it.
When questioned, they had abused Nachimuthu Gounder and threatened to kill him. He lodged a complaint with the Kamanaickenpalayam Police to no avail.
Commotion sparked as Nachimuthu Gounder and his wife went on a hunger strike on their own land until they died, urging the police to take immediate action and provide security for them.
