Coimbatore: A 44-year-old man, who was remanded to judicial custody at Avinashi sub-jail, tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday.

A police official said he was arrested on Monday for selling lottery tickets in Sulur. He was booked and a cache of lottery tickets was seized along with Rs 60,530 in cash.
His throat and nasal swabs were collected at the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital and he was lodged at Avinashi sub-jail. The result of the PCR test returned as positive today.
The jail premises have been fumigated.
