Coimbatore: MLA OK Chinnaraj provided 23 lakh worth essential equipment to Mettupalayam Government Arts College from public funds. Government Arts and Science College at Mettupalayam, Coimbatore has been functioning for more than three years with a strength of 900 students.
The college has been functioning without adequate building facilities, enough tables, benches, etc. to accommodate the students even after constructing the new building last year.
A request was made to the district administration, members of the legislature and parliament on behalf of the college administration. Following this, Mettupalayam legislator OK Chinnaraj today provided essential equipment worth about Rs. 23 lakhs to the college from public funds.
The college administration said that all the equipment will be available before the admission of the students this year. The event was attended by College Principal Sukumaran, Tahsildhar Santamani, Parent Teachers Association Administrators and others.
