Coimbatore: As a result of 140 mm rainfall recorded in Siruvani dam area, the water level rose to 14.10 feet. Even as the southwest monsoon has gained momentum in the catchment areas of Siruvani Dam, 140 mm of rain was recorded in the dam area in a single day yesterday.

Due to this, the water level of the dam has risen from 12.86 to 14.10 feet.

The Siruvani Dam supplies drinking water to 36 wards and hundreds of roadside villages in Coimbatore. The Siruvani Dam can hold 22.47 sq km of water and is 49.53 feet high and 878.5 meters above sea level with a water capacity of 650 million cubic feet.

The water level of the dam has risen to 14.10 feet due to continuous rains in the catchment areas of the dam for the last few days since the onset of the southwest monsoon in Coimbatore.

An official at Coimbatore Corporation said, "On behalf of the Corporation, 73 MLT of water was taken from Siruvani yesterday for drinking water supply."
