Coimbatore: The Federation of Industrial Organizations petitioned to the TN CM through e-mail to facilitate the operation of buses and trains, to bring back migrant workers from other states.
The various requests submitted by the Federation of Industrial Organisations include:
1. Permit the operation of buses and trains to facilitate the return of migrant workers who left for their own states and districts, to Coimbatore.
2. Industries have not been able to arrange buses privately to bring back the workers from other states. The lockdown that is in place encompassing the entire state must be avoided and only those areas where the spread of the disease is higher must be locked.
3. If the need to obtain an E-pass for travelling to other districts continues, then the government must assist the industries by making it easier to obtain an E-pass without any restrictions. They must also help the industry related work to take place without any obstruction.
4. The closure of government and private industries for many days following a person testing positive for COVID-19 must be avoided.
5. Bank services should not be halted even during a lockdown as this will delay the processing of emergency loans announced by the Central government for the MSMEs.
The federation said that the backbone of the Tamilnadu economy are the MSMEs and the government should help revive them and come out energised from the crisis.
