COVID-19: TN adds 6,426 COVID-19 cases and 5,927 recoveries in a day

Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu on Wednesday reported 6,426 new COVID-19 cases, taking the cumulative count in the state to 2,34,114 while fatalities mounted by 82, the State Health department said. The State toll stood at 3,741 today.

A total of 5,927 patients were discharged in the day, taking the count of recovered cases to 1,72,883. The State now has 57,490 active cases.

A total of 25,36,660 people have been tested so far for COVID-19, the Health bulletin said.

A total of 1,42,055 males, 92,032 females and 27 transgenders have turned positive for the dreaded virus, so far.

While Chennai registered 1,117 cases, the neighbouring districts of Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram and Thiruvallur recorded 540, 370 and 373 positives.

With 278 new cases today, Coimbatore continued to post high numbers while the districts of Tirupur and The Nilgiris registered 37 and 11 positives, respectively.

Southern Tamil Nadu continues to remain a cause of concern with Madurai (225), Tirunelveli (382), Thootukudi (316), and Virudhunagar (370) turning out to be the major clusters.

All the districts in the State have been featuring on the list for days together now.
