The Nilgiris: Bears and bear cubs were spotted roaming near Catherine Falls in Kotagiri, Nilgiris.

Tourist spots in the Nilgiris sport a deserted look due to the ban on tourists for the past three months.

Places like Doddabetta, Lamb's Rock and Catherine Falls that generally experience a heavy influx of tourists are deserted now. This has led to the increased movement of wildlife, from the nearby forests, on the roads in the vicinity.

There is a chance that bears and other wild animals would begin to reside in these places permanently due to the lack of tourist movement, informed the locals.
