Rajamanickam (31) is the owner of a jewellery pawn shop on 80 feet road in Olympus, Ramanathapuram. The shop named Meenakshi Finance has been operational for the past 10 years.
A couple of days ago Deepak from Vellalur came to the shop to pawn his silver hip chain in order to raise money for alcohol. However, Rajamanickam informed him that he does not deal with silver jewellery. Following this, there have been constant arguments between Rajamanickam and Deepak.
In continuation of this, Deepak and his friend Sabareesan visited Rajamanickam in an inebriated state and got into a tiff over the same issue. Both the friends tried to attack Rajamanickam with a sickle, injuring Rajamanickam on his shoulders. He has been admitted at a private hospital for treatment.
The police arrested Deepak and Sabareesan for attempt to murder. On enquiring them, it was revealed that both of them were members of Hindu Munnani. The Ramanathapuram police filed a case against both of them and they have been imprisoned. Deepak already has three cases pending against him including the one for attacking someone on vengeance.
