Coimbatore: CPI State Secretary spoke regarding the EIA 2020 and criticised that it was against the farmers and the common man.
Speaking to the press at the Communist Party of India office on Syrian Church road, he said, "The Central and the State governments did not take the necessary precautions regarding the spread of COVID-19. Had it been the case, loss of lives would not have occurred to this magnitude. The Central and State governments do not care about the people's sufferings due to the extension of the lockdown. The Central government has not given a single paise to the people. The common man has, however, been greatly affected by the lockdown and so the State government must provide Rs, 5,000 to all the affected families. Families of migrant workers must be provided with Rs.7,500 relief by the Central government."
Charging the Central government for the various bills being passed in the current situation, he said, "The BJP government is trying to capitalise the COVID-19 situation to pass anti-people laws. It is alsotrying to implement policies based on Manu Dharma."
Refusing to accept the Electricity Amendment Bill he said, "The TN CM must announce that we cannot accept the Electricity amendment bill. Similarly, the EIA 2020 is against the farmers and the common man."
He also worried that it is not possible to make democratic comments about the faulty schemes of the government as those who criticise the government are being threatened.
He further remarked, "No action has been taken against those who slandered the Communist Party office, Balan Illam and the senior leader Nallakannu, inspite of thousands of complaints. Neither the CM nor the Deputy CM or the AIADMK have spoken a word of condemnation against the people who vandalised the Periyar statue, defamed party offices and made cheap comments about party leaders. There is an unannounced state of emergency implemented in TN. India is going through a dictatorial fascist rule and the AIADMK supports this."
