Tirupur: Upon receiving information that ration rice was being stored and sold at a house in the Kallangadu area of Tirupur, the Civil Supplies Officers along with the Anti-Food Smuggling Unit personnel raided the house of one Thiagarajan.
Tirupur: Upon receiving information that ration rice was being stored and sold at a house in the Kallangadu area of Tirupur, the Civil Supplies Officers along with the Anti-Food Smuggling Unit personnel raided the house of one Thiagarajan.

During the raid, 1000 kg of ration rice was confiscated and a case was registered against Thiagarajan who was involved in the smuggling of ration rice. Thiagarajan admitted that he buys ration rice from the general public in the area and sells it to the North Indian workers in the surrounding areas for 10 rupees a kilo.

Authorities are investigating the angle whether Thiagarajan was selling rice illegally procured from ration shops and any ration shop staff are involved.
