Chennai: The Madras High Court has issued notice to YouTuber Maridhas in a defamation suit filed by News18 Tamilnadu Editor Gunasekaran and News18 group claiming damages of Rs.1.5 crore. Issuing the notice, the Madras HC has also issued interim directions to remove the contentious youtube videos immediately.

It is to be noted, News18’s Associate Editor Vinay Sarawagi has also filed a case against the fake email used by Maridhas in another contentious video where he claimed that News18 has consented to his allegations. It was later proven by mails to Protonmail, the email provider that the said email account was created for the sole purpose of sending this one fake mail and then deleted. An FIR has been filed by the Cybercrime wing of Chennai Police under multiple sections (465, 469, 471) of the IPC and section 66 (b) and 41 of the Information Technology Act against the complaint given by Vinay Sarawagi on July 17, 2020 charging YouTuber Maridhas.
