Police probe death of woman in alleged fire accident in Coimbatore

Police are enquiring regarding the death of a newly married woman, who allegedly died in a fire accident at her house in Coimbatore, on Monday.

According to police reports, Sulochana (27) from Tirunelveli got married seven years ago and has two children. She was residing in Chennai with her family. However, due to differences with her husband, she divorced and returned to Tirunelveli to live with her parents where she entered into a relationship with Sathish (32) who was a construction worker and married him.

The couple lived in Annai Velankanni Nagar in Podanur. This morning, the couple shifted to a new house on Rangasamy Gounder Street near Podanur. It is alleged that Sathish was a drunkard. Under the circumstances, Sulochana allegedly died in a fire accident in their new house.

The Podanur police are conducting an enquiry into her death Sulochana to ascertain if it was an accidental death by fire or she immolated herself. They registered a case and sent the body for autopsy to the Coimbatore GH. The death of a woman hours after moving into a new house has shocked the people in the area.
