The number of COVID-19 cases has been on the rise in Mettupalayam for nearly a month now. Three to five new cases a day are reported on an average. Those who had been in direct contact with the COVID-19 patients are also beingmonitored at separate centers.
Currently, there are three centers monitoring the patients in Mettupalayam. However, due to the increase in the number of patients, there is a shortage of beds causing difficulty in accommodating them.
On receiving information about this, Mettupalayam MLA O.K. Chinnaraj donated 50 beds at a cost of Rs. 1.50 lakhs to the center.
The MLA visited the COVID-19 center in the Karamadai road in person and provided the 50 beds and pillows to the medical administration in the presence of district supervising officers.
