Coimbatore: A meeting to discuss the COVID-19 prevention measures undertaken in the Corporation was held with officials of all the departments in attendance, today.
Coimbatore: A meeting to discuss the COVID-19 prevention measures undertaken in the Corporation was held with officials of all the departments in attendance, today.
The meeting was held at the main office of the Coimbatore Corporation and was led by the Corporation Commissioner J. Shravan Kumar. Officials from all the departments took part in the meeting.
It was discussed that disease prevention measures must be geared up in containment zones. The officials in charge of those areas were urged to ensure that the fumigation undertaken twice a day by the sanitary workers must continue without slackening.
The Health department was also urged to involve qualified lab technicians at the COVID-19 special medical camps being held on behalf of the Corporation. Increasing the number of beds at the CODISSIA Medical center as a precautionary measure was also suggested to the officials.
At the meeting, it was decided that PA system announcements insisting the public to wear face masks when stepping out into crowded areas and maintain social distancing should continue.
The Corporation Commissioner also informed that, "Considering the welfare of the public, various flying squads have been formed on behalf of the Corporation. These flying squads take immediate action against shops that do not observe social distancing. Similarly fines are imposed on people who step out without wearing face masks."

District Revenue Officer T. Ramaduraimurugan, Police Deputy Commissioner Anitha, ESI Hospital Dean Dr. Nirmala, Coimbatore GH Dean Dr. Kalidas, Corporation, Health and Police department officials took part in the meeting.
