Residents of the Nallampalayam area near Kavundampalayam, Coimbatore have informed the Police Control Room Emergency Helpline (100) that a gang was playing cards and gambling with money during complete lockdown without following social distancing. The information was immediately conveyed to Thudiyalur Police Inspector Balamurali Sundaram. Thudiyalur police inspector arrested 13 persons for gambling in a room in Nallampalayam area without following social distancing.
Rs. 4,04,000 were also confiscated from the arrested persons. The 13 people who were arrested were taken to the police station and were later released on police bail. The public in the area lauded Thudiyalur Police Inspector Balamurali Sundaram for arresting 13 people for gambling.
The Thudiyalur police station inspector said that such incidents could be reported to the police control number or the Thudiyalur police station and the details of those who report such incidents would be protected.
