In a bid to curb the spread, the district collector had yesterday issued a complete lockdown order in Coimbatore from 5 pm on 25th to 6 am on the 27th. The complete lockdown already observed across Tamil Nadu on Sundays leads to people crowding on roads and at shops with no regard for social distancing.
To avoid this, a complete lockdown order was issued from 5 pm and all shops were closed in the evening. Police kept warning those who kept moving unnecessarily in violation of the lockdown.
