Newspaper editor booked for revealing POCSO victim name and family details

Coimbatore: A case has been registered against a newspaper editor booked for revealing POCSO victim name and family details. The news was published on 15.07.2020 in the daily newspaper 'Seithi Saral' revealing the name of the victim girl and the identity of her family members involved in the POCSO case registered at the Pollachi All Women's Police Station on 13.07.2020.

Coimbatore: A case has been registered against a newspaper editor booked for revealing POCSO victim name and family details. The victim's father lodged a complaint at the Negamam police station on 18.07.2020. The complaint taken to the courts and an order was issued to register a case against the editor of the newspaper concerned with permission. Negamam Police Station registered a case on 22.07.2020 under 1026/2020 S / P23 (1) (4) of POCSO Act. Case has been filed under Section 74 of the JJ Act.

Following this, Ramesh (A) Ramesh Babu of Velandipalayam was arrested yesterday 25.07.2020 and released on bail. The Coimbatore District Police has requested the media and public in social media to take into consideration that the duty to protect the name and identity of the victim in such cases belongs to everyone in the community.
