The spread of COVID-19 has been increasing everyday in the Nilgiris. A women employee of the Coonoor Municipality who collects tax from shops was tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday.
Following this, various market shops and shops in the bus stands, under the Municipality were closed down temporarily.
Now the temporary fish and poultry markets near Samanna park in Coonoor have been ordered shut due to overcrowding and lack of social distancing between customers, water and disinfectants in the shops.
Divisional officer Ranjith ordered for the shops to be closed down.
